  • A classic and elegant ceramic maritime history mug, with the nautical term ' Sailing close to the wind' The phrase 'Sailing close to the wind' originally came from sailing ships of the 18th century and meant to steer the ship or boat as near as possible to the direction to which the wind was coming from. This was risky but the vessel would sail much faster as a result. So to sail close to the wind is to take a risky course of action - on the edge of law-breaking or pushing the limits of the rules.
  • Each 11oz mug comes with a full top-to-bottom image reproduced with crisp, sharp, vibrant clarity, protected by a polished ceramic glaze. This custom mug comes in a pure white gloss colour. Our ceramic mugs are extremely durable, microwave, and dishwasher-safe, as well as both scratch and chip-resistant.
